All Good Things…
The last episode is finally here. Sorry it took so long but I had a really big project to do for my final in my Screenwriting course which took so much of my time. So let’s get to it.
Jace and Izzy confront Lilith.

One Year Later: What is and what could be.
I celebrate finding a show that makes me feel seen in so many ways - with an iconic Queer couple, two strong and independent female leads, and a cast that handles their characters and fans with grace, care, respect, and love.
The show may have ended too soon. But will live on through the Shadow Family as we continue to talk about it, make edits for it, rewatch it over and over, and support the actors in all that they are doing now.
The title of this episode kills me because the rest of that phrase is “must come to an end.” I despise Netflix for cancelling their deal with Constantin Film. Which caused the show to be cancelled.
“My old friends. The Shadowhunters.” Well, calling them that is certainly a choice, Lilith… But how badass does Lilith look in this scene!!
“We’re here to stop you killing Magnus.” Hell yeah! You tell her, Jace!!
Not going to lie, I love seeing Magnus and Lorenzo working together to save Meliorne! Between seeing the love between Malec and seeing the Shadowhunters team up to save two Downworlders, there might be hope for Lorenzo, yet.
“Looks like she’s found me.” Magnus just casually saying this like it’s inevitable just shows how brave the man is. And you know he would gladly let Lilith kill him if it meant keeping Alec and the others safe.
Very noble of you, Magnus. But it’s not happening on Alec’s watch. That man was so determined to save you that he found a way to come to hell. He’s not giving up on you now.
Dear Hecate, how much do I love all of them lining up to protect Magnus from Lilith.
Oh just Izzy saving the day, and Magnus, with her Heavenly Fire. Even knowing it could kill her.
Interesting that Magnus is the only one not showing any pain from the Heavenly Fire.
I love that they all joined to save Izzy. Even Lorenzo.
This opening montage is so sweet. How cute are Jace and Clary?!
Magnus admiring Alec as he sleeps, and smoothing his hair, is one of the sweetest and most romantic things! I love them so damn much.
And Simon and Izzy talking about how they’re both bad at love but agreeing to try - together! Oh my little heart!
The joy that this scene gives me is indescribable!
Okay, these two discussing their wedding is my happy place! It’s so fucking cute!
The laughter, the flirting, Alec’s infinite patience with Magnus’ extravagant ideas - they’re so damn perfect!
Alec convincing Magnus to have it at the Institute by reminding him that the Clave will have to honor and celebrate, not just a union between two men, but a union between a Shadowhunter and a Downworlder - seeling it with this kiss - absolutely brilliant!
Again, all my love and respect to Harry and Matt for handling this couple and their story with such beauty and care and grace! I am forever grateful. Malec will ALWAYS be THE Queer Icon Couple for me!
I love how happy Jace is for Alec. And how supportive he is.
But this look on Jace’s face when Alec tells him that he is moving to Magnus’ breaks my heart. He’s worried about losing his Parabatai. Sweet Jace, you should know better.
Such a sweet moment between our Parabatai. I really love their bond so much.
I love Izzy and Clary asking each other to be Parabatai. And I am still pissed that we never get to see it. Dumbasses cancelling this beautiful show. Yeah, I’m never letting that go!
I know Mustafa was shooting something else at the same time, but I miss Luke’s beard!
Magnus forgiving Lorenzo for the way he treated him, and inviting him to the wedding, is so sweet.

This Alec/Maryse scene is so so sweet. Dear Hecate, I love Maryse so damn much this season!
We now take this moment to admire just how badass Jonathan (and Luke) looks right here. And yes, this photo made it into my Shadowhunters Screenshots Art photos.
And this shot of Clary/Kat! I am always impressed with Kat’s skill as an actress, but this moment - the way she shows the determination and devastation that Clary is feeling about having to take down her own brother - fucking masterclass!!
I feel so bad for Clary. Finding out you have a brother only to learn he’s a psychopath and having to take him down. My heart breaks for her.
In my head canon, when Clary gets her Shadowhunters abilities back, she gets these amazing white wings back. Because damn if she doesn’t wear them perfectly. Aaaaaand, this may or may not show up in part two of the Shadowhunters/Teen Wolf crossover fanfic that I am currently drafting.
The Malec wedding is one of the most important events in Queer media history. What it signifies for the LGBTQIA+ Community, the precedent that it set, is groundbreaking. So, I will be posting a bonus review that is nothing but the wedding, very soon. For now, we will just bask in the beauty that is Malec and their happily ever after.
I am also not ashamed to admit that this wedding is one of the few media events that makes me cry. Every damn time!
I will say that I am grateful that the Angels allowed Clary to attend Malec’s wedding. Even if she won’t remember it, they will.
Alec - I’m not stepping on your feet, am I?
Magnus - How could you be? It’s like I’m walking on air.
This dance is so sweet. And one of the few Malec scenes we get, even if it is their reception. And a sweet callback to Magnus’ dream while he was unconscious from Lorenzo’s magic in “Stay With Me.”
I love that Raphael is at the wedding. I like to think he and Magnus maintain their friendship even with Raphael being human, now.
I love that Raphael is happy for Izzy and Simon.
Lorenzo dancing with Madzie is so cute.
Lorenzo getting hit on by Underhill is also so cute.
I love that Max wants to call Magnus ‘brother.’
And I love how happy that makes Magnus.
Look at these two, celebrating their love with their family and friends. I love it so much!
And I love how happy Maryse looks. Not only about Alec and Magnus, but about her and Luke. I love how surprised she is when they all tell her they already know about Luke.
I love that they are all happy about Maryse and Luke. This is what family truly is.
This convo between Clary and Jace is so heartbreaking. Jace has come so far from the Shadowhunter he was in Season 1. And the way Clary evolved from season 1 to now - it’s all so beautiful. And they don’t deserve what is about to happen.
Jace’s devastation when he finds Clary’s letter breaks my heart. Every time.
And what the Angels do to Clary, wiping her memories of everything to do with the Shadow World is so cold. I don’t care what Clary did, she didn’t deserve this. The Angels are dicks in this realm, too. Not in the same way as the Supernatural Angels, but still.
One year later and Alec is the Inquisitor of the Clave. He is bringing the Shadowhunters and the Downworld together in the way they should have always been. Working together, side by side, as a team. And look how dashing and happy he looks!
And Luke back in his rightful place, as a Shadowhunter, working with Alec to maintain order and balance. And living happily with Maryse. Still no beard, though…
Magnus as the High Warlock of Alicante. The first to ever hold that title. Working with the Shadowhunters to alter their wards to allow contact with Downworlders. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Still so in love with his husband, that he throws his work down - quite literally - the minute Alec comes home. So damn precious.
And Alec still so in love with his husband that he comes home at a decent hour and just wants to spend time together. I am salty that we didn’t get one final Malec kiss, tho.
Maia being the Alpha of the NYC Pack is perfect for her. And turning the Jade Wolf into a place for all Downworlders is epic.
I love that Simon and Izzy are together and so damn happy. I only wish we had gotten it sooner.
I love that Simon works at the Institute as a Downworld Deputy. Talk about coming a long way from the first season.
And Izzy being the head of the Institute is a move I did not see coming. But I love it. Of the three of them, Izzy has the best understanding of Downworlders and how to talk to them. She is the perfect Head.
I love the friendship that Simon and Jace have. I love that Jace trains Simon. And I love that Simon empathizes with Jace about Clary. And how he tries to counsel Jace to let her be.
Even if Jace doesn’t listen. Which should surprise no one at all.
I love that we get to see Clary at art school. And that we see that, even if she doesn’t know what she’s remembering, the Shadow World still lives inside of her.
I know a lot of people complain about how the show ended. And I didn’t disagree with them. Until I heard Kat give her view in an interview with swoondotcom back in January of this year. She made me look at that final scene in a new way and now I get it. Find the interview at the link below.
