Episode 19 Aku Cinta Kamu

This episode is all about love - whether it’s unconditional, broken, true, or toxic.

Asmodeus shows up to give Magnus back his magic - but he absolutely has less than pure motivations.

Alec buries the pain that his unconditional love is causing him.

Magnus’ pure love continues to torment his mind and his heart.

Jace respects the love between him and Alec, because Alec asked.

Izzy and Simon are the most adorable as their as yet unspoken love continues to grow.

Under his unconditional love for Magnus, Jem denies a desperate plea.

Magnus crumbles under the jagged edges of the broken love between he and Alec.

Asmodeus shows up with his toxic love and stops Magnus from making an irreversible mistake.

I break under the weight of the Malec pain littered throughout this episode and beg for them to hurry up and fix it.

Magnus, my sweet boy, you just said that there’s always a price with Asmodeus. Do you really think it’s a coincidence that he showed up and gave you back your magic the morning after Alec breaks up with you? My love, please put it all together.

Asmodeus - Too late.

Magnus - You don’t really have a choice.

The way that Magnus says that is so powerful. And the way Harry makes his voice so deep and growly - so sexy.

Alec, yes finding Clary is important. But, my love, it’s okay to take a minute to feel your pain. And to tell Izzy and Jace what’s going on. Actually, it’s very important that you do.

Izzy, you beautiful genius! I knew you’d figure out the Heavenly Fire!

Magnus going back to the lock of love wall in New York, remembering when Alec brought him there - it’s so heartbreaking.

But the memory is so sweet. Alec telling Magnus that he wants them to have a lock to symbolize their undying love. Magnus using his magic to inscribe Aku Cinta Kamu on the lock.

Aku Cinta Kamu = I Love You in Indonesian

This look on Magnus’ face - the mix of pain and anger - it’s so devastating. It breaks my heart.

And when that pain and anger gets the better of Magnus, and he destroys the lock, it’s soul crushing

And poor Alec, dealing with his pain the only way he knows how - by burying it and focusing on the mission. Because he knows that if he allows himself to feel it, it will destroy him. The way it is destroying Magnus.

This is so clear during this conversation with Jace. Jace tries to get Alec to talk, to tell him what happened between him and Magnus. The way Alec looks, the sound of his voice, when he tells Jace that sometimes life doesn’t go the way you want it to and begs Jace to just go - it’s so clear that he is barely holding on.

It’s okay Jace. You tried to make him talk. He’s just not ready. It’s to raw.

This is as close as we get to seeing Alec break.

This memory of Magnus and Alec with Madzie is adorable. And the conversation about them starting a family, some day, is so beautiful. And it pisses me off that we did not get to see it happen!!

The way that Magnus lights up when he looks at Alec is so so sweet. The words ‘you complete me’ were made for Malec!

This is one of the very rare moments where I disagree with a decision the show made. The chemistry between Dom and Luke is phenomenal. I wish they had gone with the original story from the books. I don’t say that lightly as I am a much bigger fan of the show than I am the books. But that storyline would have been much more interesting to see play out than the one we got.

I love this Superman convo between Simon and Izzy. I love that she watched the movie for him. And I love how happy learning that makes him.

Magnus replaying all these memories and watching him try to shake them away, but unable to - it’s so heartbreaking. And Harry! Oh My God! The man is so fabulous.

Magnus! NO! You cannot erase Alec from your memories!! It will destroy you, my love. Please listen to Jem!

Bless you Brother Zachariah - AKA Jem - for telling Magnus no. And for calling Magnus out on the reasons for Magnus asking you to help him.

Jace you’re a fool! This is exactly what Jonathan wants! Didn’t Alec tell you that you need to stay alert?? Taking Seelie drugs is not the way to do that.

How the hell did Jordan take that vial with Simon and Izzy right there?!

Izzy, you Goddess! Remaking Glorious! Seriously there is nothing that this woman can’t do.

This moment, Magnus pulling the memories from his mind, them encasing him in a glowing silver light, the way they reflect in his eyes - it’s so haunting and gorgeous. Harry was so extraordinary. Seriously, the talent in this man is so freaking insane!

I know Asmodeus’ reasons for stopping Magnus are selfish and evil, but I am so glad that he stopped Magnus from destroying the memories. It’s the only thing he’s done right since he helped create Magnus.

See ya next time for City of Glass
